Sri Vishnu, one among the Tri-Murthies is said to be the God of Protection. He protects the entire human lives from various evils, etc. To protect the human from the evil and to protect the Dharma, He has taken many incarnations (Avathars). Among them, 10 Avathars are said to be so special and thus they are termed as "Dasavathars". There are so many temples found for Sri Vishnu and for His various avathars as Sri Rama, Sri Krishna and Sri Narasimha, etc.
